Annalysing the contents page of 'Q' magazine

- the contents page uses the same colours as the front cover, and therefore they both follow similar codes and conventions
- the logo is poistioned in the same location on both pages
- this page is split into 3 columns like the front page
- the layout appears to look fresh, organised and sophisticated, which relates to the codes and conventions of the magazine genre
- the image is different, these artists represent more of rock music than pop, which Madonna portayed on the front page. However the wide variety of artists used from different genres of music, again follow the codes and conventions of the 'q' magazine. This is because the 'Q' magazine consists of a wide range of genres including: pop and rock.

TARGET AUDIENCE:
- the magaizne approaches later teenagers and young adults because the layout is sophisticated, an dtherefore suitable for teh target audience
IMAGE:
- the main image is of a medium close of Madonna, which means that the magazine editors are appealing to more of a mature audience as well as older teens, she is looking directly at the audience, which means she is trying to address the audience
- the image is merged into the cover to relate with the conventions of the magaizne
- the following colours are used: black, red and white to attract the audience as the colours are eye-catching
- the good use of colours also relate to women as women favour lots of colours
- the mise en scene is plain black, which contrasts well with red and white.
- The mise-en-scene shows that Madonna is wearing a hooded top and rather funky glove, which again suggests that the target audience is later teens
- the use of the straplines suggests that the magaizne is very popular and consists of a wide range of music genres due to a range of different famous people being interviewed
- the text is bold and sophisticated to relate to the genre and target audience
- the masthead is parly covered by the image, this demonstrates that the audience are expected to know the name of the magzine becasue its so well established and successful

Annalysing the double page spread of 'kerrang' magazine

IMAGES:
- the images take up more of the space than the text
- there are several smaller images with a white frame around them to make them stand out
- the main image has a jagged cut edge around it to fit into the conventions of the music genre
- the use of colour is white, black, grey and red, which represent masculine colours, therefore the colours represent the traget audience
- the layout is not neat as it is quite untidy and jagged around the edges
- the mise en scene relates to the music genre because the guitars, tatoos and messy hairstyles represents rock and the target audience
TEXT:
- There is less text displayed on the pages than images because the younger tennagers prefer images and are less interested in reading

Final school magazine front cover-Preliminary Task

this is my final school magazine front cover, i have changed the colour and the position of the straplines. i found it quite difficult choosing the correct colours because of the use of different colours in the image taken. However for the main task, i am now aware that i will take an image that does no include so much color and lighting.
1st draft of front cover for school magazine-Preliminary task

I have not yet completed my school magazine front cover, because i need to add a medium close up image, which i will do in lesson. I have used an image of a sixth form student working on the computer. This image represents the good use of technology we have in the school, the fun, exciting, colourful elements of the school (shown on the poster) and that education is taken seriously towards any student within the sixth form and school. Also the close up medium shows the same student reading a book, and therefore that school students and sixth form students have good access to facilities like the library to help them to read eduactionally and in their own lesiure time.

1st draft of front cover for 'dwell' magazine

Today i have managed to add the front cover to a magazine that i editied using Publisher onto my blog. I think my front cover is done quite well considering it's my first attempt. Hopefully, over the next few weeks I can do much better as i will learn more skills, which will enable me to use them for my main task.
